Lesley Olsher

Don't let the gentle smile fool you: this is one tough cookie. Lesley leads a double life as a social activist and as a singer. Although she often lets her singing do the "talking", she finds the time to support a  variety of causes. She derives inner meaning and direction from both of these essential facets of her life.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she spent her formative years in Florida and Baltimore, Maryland, before settling in New Mexico in 1978. You may have heard of her husband, "the audio reviewer from hell," who now writes for Fi  Magazine.

Although classically trained, she has in recent years returned to her true musical love: jazz, blues, and pop. Her debut album with Vital Music, "Lesley," showed her off in a jazz and blues vein. This time out, the  focus is on the adult contemporary scene. This is, in fact, what makes her so musically fascinating. How many pop or jazz singers out there posess a three-octave range, let alone stay on pitch throughout a complete song?

Lesley has dedicated this album to the people of Los Angeles, California, because this album was recorded in LA during the 'quake of 1994.
